On Saturday the 24th of March 2012 at approximately 3 pm the Society of Radiographers held its Annual General Meeting. Various reports were presented including the outgoing President's (Timothy Dean) and the outgoing Secretary's (Rhonda Dipsingh), the latter and the Minutes of AGM 2011 were presented by the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer (Ingrid Charles-Russell). Treasurer, Reshma Maheepat also delivered her report for 2011. The ISRRT Council Member (Anushka Kattick-Mahabirsingh) gave her report and stressed on the up coming ISRRT World Congress soon to be hosted in Toronto, Canada.
The following is an exerpt from the outgoing President's report:
"Welcome to all,
This has been my second term in office and I would like to thank all our hardworking Executive Members for making 2011 a success and most of all I would like to thank GOD for all His Blessings.
2011 was indeed a challenging year but we were able to make the best of it.
From our fundraising to our educational activities, the Society did put its best foot forward and was able to progress in these areas despite setbacks.
It is without doubt that Annual Conference 2011 was a resounding success with an excellent panel of presenters and a great number of delegates including students. Our sponsors were instrumental in the success of the conference and I would like to say a special thank you to them all. Sponsors who set up displays were impressed with the turn out and are looking forward to Conference 2012. Our challenges with the venue...were obvious but I do not believe it had deterred interest in the conference itself.
Great job by our executive members (Ingrid, Reshma, Aneesa and Rhonda) for organizing and executing the fundraisers at EWMSC and SFGH. Their hard work did literally pay off. Apparently, patrons are looking forward to more of the “breakfases” and lunches!
The website continues to flourish with news articles, events and a new section called “RESEARCH”. We expect that local and even regional researchers in the field would take advantage of this opportunity to post their work...I encourage the new executive to continue this enterprise - keep the site current and full of useful information. The ISRRT has said in its November 2011 issue that our website “has a wealth of information and demonstrates how innovative this Society is”.
