RSNA was a great experience with sight seeing and a week filled with lectures and exhibitions. I will surely recommend a visit to this conference for anyone who can afford it. Not only was it a great learning experience, but for me it was an opportunity to meet with people from all corners of the world.
I had the pleasure of being invited to represent the Society of Radiographers of Trinidad & Tobago at a reception hosted by Her Majesty's Government at the British Consulate (Chicago) during the RSNA. The reception was geared to help foster closer international cooperation in medical imaging. I met Mr. Ramon Navai, the British Deputy Consul General Chicago, Professor Erika Denton, FRCP, FRCR National Clinical Director for Imaging Department of Health London as well as many more delegates from the Consul. Also in attendance were members from the British Institute of Radiology, the Royal College of Radiologists and the Society and College of Radiographers, just to name a few. I would like to thank the consul for the invitation and I do hope that we will have closer links with their country when it comes to radiology in the future.
I had the pleasure of meeting and dining with the President of the ISRRT Dr. Michael Ward, the CEO of the ASRT and the CEO of the CAMRT Mr. Charles Shields Jr. It was such a great opportunity to have met with these individuals since some of our radiographers are registered with their respective boards. I would like to say a special thank you to Dr. and Mrs. Yule who made me feel so welcome and it was a pleasure to have met them both.
As vice president of the SRTT, I was fortunate to have met with the Presidents from the Hong Kong Society Mr. Kwan Weng Ho and Thailand's Society Mr. Sala Ubolchai. Also it was nice to have sat in on one of the meetings with updates from the Image Gently Team. They were so pleased to have a representative from Trinidad and Tobago at their meeting.
During my trip I met with Radiographers, Radiologists and Physicists from various parts of the world so if you are planning to visit next year have the Bistro at RSNA and get all the sight seeing done before or after the conference. Six days is just not enough to get everything done so plan well and I hope we have more Radiographers attend conferences like this one.
Just a little reminder ISRRT will be held in Toronto Canada in June 2012 and they are looking forward to seeing us there.
