On Wednesday 9th of October, the Society of Radiographers of Trinidad & Tobago (SRTT) was invited to participate in a Career Fair at Annual NIHERST Community Science Week at the Preysal Secondary School in Preysal, central Trinidad. This event marked one of the events that took place during Radiographers’ Week.
At the fair, the SRTT exhibition booth was one of the medical groups present including the nursing fraternity and other tertiary educational institutions such as the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad & Tobago (COSTAATT), University of the West Indies (UWI) and Trinidad & Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (TTHTI).
The week of activities was opened by the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Tim Gopeesingh.
The fair was attended by several schools with students of varying age groups. The youths were intrigued by the images (Barium studies, plain radiographs, CT scans) on display with numerous questions being posed to the recent Radiography graduates who manned the booth; Phillip Simon and Terronce Tsoi-a-Fatt. The fair proved to be a wonderful opportunity for the young graduates to encourage students to pursue a career path in Radiological Sciences and share their experience as recent students themselves.
The activities lasted into the early evening. The SRTT appreciates and congratulates the efforts of Phillip and Terronce, who voluntarily assisted in this event and help promote the profession among the youth.
