Radiographer shifts gears to become Manager

Radiographer shifts gears to become Manager

In this release we feature one of our prominent local radiographers, Mr. Chaitram Ramroop,  who has accepted the post of Manager of Radiology Services at the South West Regional Health Authority. He has a very impressive resume and seeks to bring to the south table a lot of experience and academic know-how.
Mr. Ramroop’s schooling in Radiography took place in Jamaica at the School of Medical Radiation Technology where he graduated with the Caribbean Diploma in Radiography, CDR(R). He later became registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists in 1991.

He pursued several courses in such areas as Radiographic Pathology, Ultrasound, CT, MRI and Angiography (Cardiac and Vascular), Electrophysiology (Implantable Pulse Generators, Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators, Bi-Ventricular Pacemakers) and aspects of Nursing (Infectious Diseases, HIV, TB, Cancer and Connective Tissue Diseases). At the Hamilton Health Sciences Co-Operation in Canada, he received his certification in Cardiovascular Technology. He also graduated as a certified Counsellor from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad.
Apart from his extensive technical training he is presently reading for his Masters in Business Administration.

He has been employed at various facilities in Trinidad including San Fernando General Hospital under the Ministry of Health with rotations in Point Fortin, Caura and Mt. Hope Maternity Hospitals, the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (under the different jurisdictions of the CRHA, NWRHA and more recently the NCRHA).

Prior to his new appointment as Regional Manger of Radiology Services at the South West Regional Health Authority, Mr. Ramroop held the position of Senior Interventional Radiographer at Advanced Cardiovascular Institute at St. Clair Medical Centre and now at Westshore Medical Centre.

Mr. Ramroop says:
“Currently I am responsible for the provision of Radiology Services at the following hospitals: San Fernando General Hospital, Area Hospital Point Fortin, Couva District Health Facility, Princes Town District Health Facility and soon Siparia District Health Facility.
I hope to adequately serve the people who use these facilities I am entrusted with managing. This is a gigantic challenge, but having surmounted previous trials I embrace this one with even greater enthusiasm. I am encouraging our staff that surmounting our challenges is achievable, but this has been met with some pessimism thus far, but I am resilient. You must be determined and believe in yourself in order to overcome obstacles. Hard work is a must to be a success at this level, and of course you need the co-operation of your superiors as well as those whom you supervise".

The Society of Radiographers of Trinidad and Tobago congratulate Mr. Ramroop on his new managerial role and wish him the very best for the future.
