Play Station Gaming Tournament
On Saturday 30th March 2013, the Society of Radiographers Trinidad and Tobago held its first fundraiser “Play Station Gaming Tournament” for 2013. This tournament was hosted in collaboration with Gaming Tourneys TT. The event was held at the YWCA Hall Gordon Street, St. Augustine and kicked off with a bang at 1:30pm with some thirty-five registered participants. The challenges were in the category of: Street Fighter, Fifa 13 and Tekken. The eager patrons all had the opportunity to participate in each of the categories.
Professional Gamers stood by with anticipation on their faces and controls in hand as they await their names to be randomly selected from a computer generated program organized by Gaming Tourneys TT. During each round of challenge, the players maintained a casual demeanour throughout the tournament. However – their deep stares at the monitors, busy finger movements on the controls and the sight of sweat along their foreheads and arms were the signs of deep levels of concentration as they competed for the grand prizes. A silence filled the hall during the final stages of the games with intermittent cheers and applause based on the player’s techniques. The crowd huddled closer and closer to the screens to take in every moment of the final games. In a blink of an eye, the penetrating stares and silence turn into thunderous applauses, whistles and excitement as the games ended and the winners were declared.
Overall, the event was entertaining and thrilling as competitors as well as onlookers had a great time. We wish to thank Gaming Tourneys TT, Hema Ramkissoon, Sherille Ramkissoon Derick Abraham, Lawrance Roberts, Edumnd Basdeo, Dhanmatie Ramoutar, Mr. Deonarine Preshard, Mostache Mohammed, Dr. Bedassie, Dr. Sinath, Dr. Rocke, Dr. Ramsundar, Dr. Romany and Dr. Figaro the Radiography Students, to all friends and members who made every effort to come out and support this venture. To the gaming fraternity we thank you for making this event a true success. The Society of Radiographers look forward to hosting future gaming tournaments with the aim at sensitizing another group of our population about Radiation Safety.
