Forty nine year old female with a history of uncontrolled diabetes with distended abdomen and swollen lower limbs.
Ultrasound examination was requested to examine the abdomen and pelvis in ruling out renal disease.
Images revealed extensive free fluid (ascites) [FF] within the abdomino-pelvic cavity and bilateral pleural effusion, confirmed on chest radiograph. Both kidneys did not demonstrate any structural abnormality. Congestive cardiac failure was suggested.
