A 46 year old male with lower back pain radiating to left lower limb with left hip and groin pain.
MRI of the lumbo-sacral spine was requested.
A standard lumbar spine protocol, to include Sagittal T1 and T2 sequences and Axial T1 and T2 sequences, was used on a 1.5 T Magnet.
Intervertebral disc herniations were evident at the L4-L5 and L5-S1 vertebral disc levels with a propensity to the left. See T2 images 3, 4 and 5 of the discs in the transverse planes.
